IFS Group Experiences
Access deeper Self-Energy through communal connection
Most of us learned to manage our inner world alone. Our society tends to label that as independence and independence gets labeled as strong.
But it feels more like isolation than strength…
Exploring our inner world was never meant to only be a solo endeavor. The parts of you that learned to hide, perform, mask, or protect did so in relationship. And they heal that way too.
Verdant's groups aren't support groups. They're structured therapeutic experiences. Facilitated by Kelsey Grant, LCMHCA, these groups are grounded in IFS and designed to help you access Self-energy in the presence of others who get it. Because something shifts when you stop being the only one in the room who knows what it's like.
Why an IFS Group?
Not all group therapy is the same. In a traditional support group, the goal is often to share, to be heard, to feel less alone. In a skill building psychoeducation group, you are learning new strategies. Those things matter. But in an IFS-informed group, something more specific is happening.
IFS, short for Internal Family Systems, is a model that understands the mind as made up of parts: distinct inner voices, protectors, and wounded places that each carry their own history, their own logic, and their own needs. In individual IFS work, you learn to turn toward those parts with curiosity instead of judgment. You develop what the model calls Self-energy — a grounded, compassionate inner presence that can lead from within.
In an IFS group, that process happens in relationship.
When you're in a room (or a Zoom) with others who speak the same internal language, something shifts. You start to notice your parts getting activated in real time: the one that goes quiet when conflict arises, the one that performs for approval, the one that checks out and starts scrolling when things get too close.
Instead of just managing those reactions, you learn to get curious about them, right here, with witnesses who are doing the same.
If you’re new to IFS, check out this ~2 minute video from IFS Guide.
An IFS group is different because:
You're not just sharing your story with others, you’re seeing it in a whole new way.
The group dynamic itself becomes the material. Relational triggers are welcomed, not managed away. You get the chance to make a different choice in the moment.
You leave with more than insight. You leave with a lived experience of what it feels like to have your parts seen and experience a calm and confident Self energy.
Healing happens in community, the same way wounding often did
